NeonVest Podcast #3 • Dan Ciporin

In this episode, we are interviewing Dan Ciporin, former General Partner at Canaan Partners!

Dan was a general partner at Canaan Partners, an early-stage institutional venture capital firm, until late 2020. While at Canaan he focused on financial technology (over 50% of his portfolio, including early-stage investments in Lending Club and Shopkeep), e-commerce, and marketplaces. Before his time in venture, he was the CEO of venture-backed e-commerce company Shopping.com leading it from zero to over $100mm in revenues in just 5 years, culminating in an IPO in 2004 and the subsequent sale to eBay in 2005. At that time he moved into venture investing, where 4 of his investments (Borderfree, Adap.tv, Lending Club and Shopkeep) have had IPOs or strategic exits of over $500mm each.

Dan continues to advise working with many incredible entrepreneurs, as they try to navigate the adrenaline-fueled, amazing, yet sometimes hazardous journey from early stage startup to successful company at scale.
